Particle Preparation Times
Particle Preparation Times are important to know, but before we look at how long we must cook them for we will look at what baits are classed as particles.
Some Examples Of Partical Baits
Chick PeasHemp
Kidney Beans
Maize
Maple Peas
Peanuts
Seeds
Sweetcorn
Tares
Tiger Nuts
All of these baits must be carefully prepared before use, if they are not prepared properly they can affect the health of fish by swelling up inside the fishes stomach. if you are unsure about how to prepare such baits please use the ready prepared baits that can be purchased from most tackle shops.
Preparation Times
To prepare particle baits properly you must first soak them for a period of time, place your chosen bait into a bucket and cover with plenty of water, there should be enough water to cover your bait twice over, at this point add any flavourings that you wish to and add a tea spoon of salt, give the mix a good stir and leave to saok, 24 hours will be enough time for most particles but if you are preparing your bait several days in advance of your trip then leave them to soak for 48 hours, occasionally stir the bait and add more water if needed, after this time take the soaked particles and the water they have been soaking in and place them into a large saucepan, bring to the boil and cook for 30 minutes, then cover remove from the heat and leave to stand until cool.
Your chosen Particle Bait will now be ready for use, if you are not planning on using the bait straight away leave it in a cool place in the water that it was boiled in, this will help retain some of the flavour of the bait.
Particle Baits can be used for many course fish, either hair rigged or presented on the hook.
